Get Out and Move

As a personal trainer, one of the most common excuses I hear from people is that they just don't have the time to work out or
exercise. It's so common and so frustrating because it's not really a lack of time in most cases. It's simply a lack of
desire and priorities.

Why People Make Excuses
Most people are stuck in the mindset that fitness means forcing yourself to get to the gym or go for a run when you would rather
be watching TV. But by associating overall fitness with activities they detest, they're ignoring the most obvious and the
most fun way to get!

The Solution: Do Something Fun

As kids we could not get enough of the outdoors. Whether we stayed out in the cold until our fingers were numb or played in
the pool until our skin was bright red, nothing motivated us more than playing with friends. So what happened? At some point
we decided fitness was a chore. Well I am here to tell you it doesn't have to be. Almost all of us have some sport or activity
that we love or want to learn. Remember back to what you loved as a kid or find a new activity you’ve always wanted to learn
and get out there and do it.

Think Outside the Box

Don’t limit yourself with just the traditional "sports." I spent the past weekend with our church youth hiking and playing
paintball for hours and then playing basketball late into the night with the other hosts. It was a blast! We're not all
personal trainers or even fitness enthusiasts, but we all had fun without even realizing how active we were. While you
might not get that beach body you've always wanted by playing tennis once a week, chances are you'll notice an increase
in both your cardiovascular endurance as well as in your desire to get out and exercise more often. A big reason
people dread exercise is because it's boring and a chore, but it doesn't have to be. When it's fun, you'll want to do it

Move Your Body

I challenge you to brainstorm some alternative activities you can do that will get you moving without thinking about it.
Whether you prefer more social activities like paintball and basketball, or more solitary ones like biking or hiking,
just get out and move!
